Was a really good interview. He focused on the points where Sony was strong, some challenges as well. In terms of the competition I like what he said, but Microsoft has done alot for the industry outside of just having the money. Hopefully when it comes time for the others to say what they feel about the competition they do so as elegant and classy as Trent did. Good job.
To develop one racer?! This is why I don't pay attention to PS3 fanboys when the talk about Forza 3, or any Xbox 360 game. The amount of money, and resources that go into creating a title worth talking about on the platform is insane. From Killzone 2 to GT5 come on. With what you are getting from Forza 3 in the amount of time it takes to develop it, there's no way you can just sput out crap about the game. Now way...It's why I don't respect all the nonsense about better looking exclusives on ...
A Halo fan. Just a gamer with a real perspective to see that the game has it's own merits. Like the franchise, and this is why people play it. If a person can't see that, then gaming isn't the hobby for them...
Halo ODST is a great addition to Halo 3's story line. The gameplay is very different, and it offers a good variety in the way it is. How do you hate on 2 million gamers, and call yourself a gamer at the same time? Then to say it's the only game on the system? "Splosion Man", "Shadow Complex", "Batman Arkham", (Multiplat), "GTA Liberty City Stories Ballad of Gay Tony". Some of these are out, while one is on it's way. So no there is no drought especially ...
Looks mean, and it should be available soon. Pretty damn good exclusive jrpg... I think this one was under the radar for a bit. Glad it's on it's way to the Americas...
Looks amazing, and the demo was fun to play as hell. I love how the backgrounds are not flat, they have depth to them. It's cool how you can race with different options on, or off to change your driving experience. I honestly haven't seen a racing title with better overall visuals. GT5 will be a great title in it's own right. Forza 3 is really spectacular though.
The issue is that Sony really hasn't found a way to bring everything together. Internally there is alot infighting going on for control, copyright issues, plus what divisions have control etc. This is why its been hard.
Microsoft doesn't really need to invest huge amounts into first party, because of the expense to do so. They're approach for this generation has been very smart, and lucrative. You can't deny the success of the first party exclusives they have had. As you can see...
Natal games. All of which are exclusive because of the control. You never know there could be a Wii sports like popular game to come out for it. So there's much on the table for Microsoft next year.
I hear your point, but overall it's in third. At the same time I agree with you the PS3 may not be the best in sales, but there's some quality gaming and experience on the platform to be had. I for one hope the holidays are good to Sony, and I want motion control to win on the system. I think the Wii had a good run, but the PS3 is it's HD successor.
Isn't a bad idea. A better idea would be to have a new title in the works, and Jak & Daxter 3. That way you get two bangs for a buck. Obviously it can't be an RPG, but perhaps a game from the PS1 or PS2 era? Shoot how about working with Konami on ZOE3. Splitting costs between Sony and Konami to make it exclusive. Worked on by two of the best developers on the PS3? Sure it's a stretch, but that would totally be awesome.
Some points the author is making, I have to disagree with a few. For one I think that porting some of the Wii games would be a good idea. 3rd parties are not thriving as much on the platform as they should(Wii). Secondly it's not simple to port a game from the Wii to the PS3, you have to spend time and money on it. So it's not worth a developers investment to just whip something out. Instead if they can put more content in, with better features, take advantage of the Sony wand the title will ...
PS3 haters/fanboys engaging in friendly fire...Gotta love N4G. A new concept popped in my head. Maybe, just maybe it would be cool to enjoy Uncharted 2? I don't know...Just a thought.
@Bathyj At this point its no longer a price war. In fact I doubt if it ever was. Considering the fact that the Arcade sku of the Xbox 360 was lower than the Wii. The PS3 is at a good price point for itself. Fine they can from a marketing stand point make a good claim of being a better system t...
When I read this lame piece is the fact that I just finished watching how developers in Japan were explaining what Natal means to them. One developer said his team had 72 ideas. There's this cynical, not skeptical view point of Natal that has yet to followed by a logical standpoint of why not? Natal is not a rip off of the Wiimote. Not to say that the PS3 motion control is bad, but how much of a departure is it really from Nintendo's offering? Does it really offer a new way to game with the W...
I wanted to not get involved with this thread, but I felt I needed this on public record. So here goes...
I would respect all the PS3 haters/fanboys of this thread had they been on the frontlines saying the same things about the PS2 last generation. Sony was the worst offender, and still is so. Show me your warranty for faulty PS2's? Show me where Sony stepped up to the plate when friends, family, colleagues paid full price repair in upwards of a hundred dollars. You all speak of ba...
